FISHING
We have always been determined that the Loch remains naturally populated with its own strain of totally wild, native brown trout. For decades it has sustained a large population of small adult trout, as well as larger examples, of up to and even over 1lb.
We have a continuing programme of raising the average size. To achieve this, we wish that as many fish as possible are caught. Thus there is no bag limit, but all fish under 3/4 lb must be taken, and any fish of 3/4 lb and over must be carefully returned.
It is also a strict rule that all fishing is by traditional dry fly, wet-fly, and small nymph only.
The loch is fished from rowing boats. We have re-furbished the tired but much–loved old sea-boats, and will maintain them with care for as long as possible.
All fishers must be able to row, and of course to swim. The loch is very deep by the dam. Life-jackets are provided, to be worn at all times, and there are life-rings at the boat-house and the dam. A feeling of safety enhances the serenity to be experienced here.
Loch Fishing is charged at: £30 per boat per day. Permits are available from the keeper.
